Our names are Eka Andreas and Sandra, and we are the founders of Andreas’ expedition. Andreas grew up in Tumpang Sari, a little village close to Senaru. In his childhood he was already fascinated of the Gunung Rinjani and the many stories people have been telling about this special place.

After doing different jobs and working for several families close to his home, he got the chance to work in tourism. For some years he was a porter, climbing Rinjani twice a week in high season and working in different guest houses in his free time. Then he learned to speak English, became a guide and leaded many people and groups to the mountain. He collected a lot of experience in these years, learned about the mountain, about his own culture, got in contact with people from many other countries and has seen the requirements of people who come to make holidays in Indonesia.

Andreas also had the possibility to go to Europe, visited Sandra’s family in Austria and made trips to Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy. He tried skiing and tobogganing, have seen big cities, got lost in Vienna, celebrated Christmas, he masqueraded on carnival, was hiking in Salzburg, have seen the Eiffel tower in Paris and also the Leaning tower of Pisa, he tried original Italian pizza, camembert and baguette in France and Käsknöpfle in the west of Austria. In Europe he has seen how different the way of living is and learned a lot about the foreign culture.

With all this varied experience we have founded our own office, Andreas’ expedition, and started to organise trips. Very important for us is to offer the best service to our guests. But we also want only the best for our team, our community and the nature. That’s why the realisation of eco friendly tourism is the main focus of our office. A second point is to show our guests the real life on Lombok, to show them how everyday life of locals is and also to provide our guests the opportunity to taste real traditional food.

Our concept

The primary concern of our company is to offer the best service to our guests, our staff, nature and community. That’s why eco tourism ideas and awareness have a main focus in our work.

Keeping the environment clean and caring for nature is not only important in our lives, it affects future generations. That’s why we are partners of the “keep Rinjani clean” project, we don’t leave any rubbish on our trips. We show guests destruction that has happened to the environment and how to protect it.

Another focus is to understand and respect the traditions and culture of Lombok. We teach our guests about local life and history in our area. We also offer local and traditional food on our trips. We want tourists to see how real life is here.

We create jobs and fight against unemployment by working together with local people. For example, we buy food for our trips in little shops around the area. Besides having a fix team of qualified workers, we also employ locals for short term work. We hope to help our employees being successful in the future by teaching English and German as well as other skills. We give back to the community by donating to orphanages.
